Why does sleep deprivation affect reaction time in humans?

Question: This is part of some research I'm doing for a school project. The kind of answer I'm looking for is one that talks about the actual mechanisms behind reaction time and why sleep slows doing reaction time; stuff to do with neurotransmitters etc. Thanks.

Answer: Sleep increases serotonin levels. Serotonin mostly makes you feel happy, but it is starting to be discovered to have a wealth of purposes, one of which is heightening nervous system activity. A high level of serotonin is now believed to speed the transmission of other nervous signals as well. Thus, less sleep and therefor less serotonin will delay reaction times.

Why is sleep so important, and what happens to you while you are asleep?

Question: For my science and health class, I need to know what happens to your brain, heart and body when you fall asleep. I also need to know why sleep is so important for humans and animals. Also, what happens to animals, such as dogs, while they are asleep? this is for school, please help!

Answer: Well first of all sleep is important in many ways. - Sleep helps to repair your body. - Sleep helps keep your heart healthy. - Sleep reduces stress. - Sleep improves your memory. - Sleep helps control body weight issues. - Sleep reduces your chances of diabetes - Sleep reduces the occurrence of mood disorders. When you sleep it doesn't mean that all of your organs shut down. You are just in resting state. Your blood pressure decreases slightly but your brain is still sensing outside information. ( Because you wake up when you hear your alarm clock right?) Studies show that people who get the appropriate amount of sleep on a regular basis tend to live longer, healthier lives than those who sleep too few or even too many hours each night.

Why would my ex sleep with someone else?

Question: Is it possible for a guy to be in love with an ex, but still sleep with one or two girls? If so, then why sleep with them?

Answer: I hope that you are young and will learn this lesson early: Sex does not equal love. Boys will do and say anything to have sex with you. It doesn't mean that he loves you, it is just biological. That part said, he is your EX. That means that you no longer have any say so about what he does or does not do.
